SIGA POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE OF PRINT MEDIA SIGA Polytechnic College is an unaided Christian minority Institution affiliated to the Tamil Nadu State Board of Technical Education and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. SIGA was established in 1952, with just 20 students and a couple of old machines at Basin Bridge in North Chennai. Sixteen years later, it was shifted to its present campus on Taylors Road in Kilpauk, in 1973. SIGA received Government recognition and was affiliated to the State Board of Technical Education. In the year 2003, SIGA received the AICTE approval. Today it is a fully equipped Printing Institute with the state-of-art technology to meet all the requirements of modern printing industry.

As an institute of Printing Technology, SIGA has indeed made its mark in the field of Technical education in the country. Now it’s more than 50 years, it stands as one of the finest institutes of printing technology in India, with state-of-the-art technology and a committed faculty. The saga of the growth and development of this institutions over the past half a century is as inspiring as it is fascinating.

The theory of OBE focuses on the skills and results achieved by the student as the most important aspect of education. The use of assessments, opportunities, and classroom experiences should all provide necessary support for the students to achieve their goals.

1. Courses offered through the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), State Board of Technical Education, Govt. of Tamilnadu & approved by AICTE. Diploma in Printing Technology – 3 Year Full Time

2. Courses offered through the Canada India Institutional Cooperation Projects Under Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), approved by Govt. of India, and Govt. of Canada. Short Term – Non Formal Certificates Skill Based Short-term courses:3D Printing Certificate Course – 3D Printing Machine Operator Offset Machine Printing–3 months part-time MS-Office–1 months part-time Screen Printing and Book Binding–2 months part-time Packaging Design and Technology–3 months part-time Adobe InDesign–3 months part-time Graphic Designing–3 months part-time Mobile Phone Sales and Service–3 months part-time Computer Hardware and Networking–3 months part-time Data Entry operations and DTP–3 months part-time

3. Non-Formal Training: SIGA Diploma in Printing Technology – Annual Intake 60 Two years of Academic Training One year of Industrial Training Eligibility: Pass in SSLC The curriculum for DPT is prepared in accordance with the syllabus prescribed by the academic board of SIGA. Examinations–theory and practical-are conducted at the end of each semester. Industrial exposure and press visits are organized regularly to enable students to get an experience of actual industrial situation. The medium of instruction is English. One Year of Intense industrial training with stipend is offered through the Institute Industry Interaction Programme.

One Year Specialized Training in Printing Technology One year of Training in Printing Technology Eligibility: Pass in SSLC / No Age limit

Advanced Training in Printing Technology Students who have successfully completed their Diploma Course in the institute are permitted to apply for an Advanced Training Course of two years duration. The selected trainees will be paid a monthly stipend by the management. An Experience Certificate will be issued on completion of the course. The two-year course will focus on advanced technologies, press management skills, seminars, teaching skills etc. Candidates who complete their education and training at SIGA have a thorough knowledge of several trades related to printing technology. Diplomas in Printing Technology along with skill-based short- term courses in MS-Office, Screen Printing and Book Binding, Packaging Design and Technology. Candidates who have successfully passed out of the portals of SIGA have been employed in companies such as: Scientific Publishing Company, SPI Global, Ad2Pro, Nittany, TnQ Books and Journals Pvt.
