A student has lecture halls facilities as per the norms of the AICTE. Halls are well furnished and ventilated. In addition to the traditional blackboards, to make the teaching-learning process easy multimedia over-head projectors and LCD projectors are used. The faculty adopts not simply the traditional lecture methodology, but also holds group discussion, quiz session, debates and other learner-centered modules. Various other audio-visual aids are also used to enrich the teaching learning processes. Audio visual Room is provided with all teaching aids, OHP, Slide Projector, Television, Video Player, LCD Projector, Video Camera, Still Camera, DVD, Multimedia Computer, Audio Systems, etc., in order to ensure overall development of students.
Access to information is a vital key in developing the individual’s potentiality. The SIGA library is equipped with text books, technical journals, books on printing, applied science and general education. The library is essentially a reference library and not a lending library. Books have to be read in the library only.
Browsing internet is permitted during the library hour with certain restrictions. Students are required to take great care in handling the books, periodicals and other resource materials in the library.
1.3. Computer Centre & Internet Services
There are more than 25 spacious computer sets with the latest configurations and the state-of –the-art software. All the computer systems are connected by LAN & 24 hour’s internet connectivity is provided for the benefit of students as well as faculty members. The windows, UNIX and LINUX software packages such as Drawing and Drafting package (AUTOCAD),Multimedia, Animation and various editing packages are made available to create simulated environments to suit not only the curricula very well but also to go beyond it.
1.4. Boarding & Hostel Arrangements
A service for accepting young people without family or who are temporarily estranged from family. Here they find personal relationship, opportunity for commitment and responsibility for young people on daily life, and the life of the group with its formative educative and Christian opportunities.
SIGA is equipped with hostel facility for 100 Boys and these are close to the academic block in the campus itself. The management of the institute is very particular that the rooms are kept clear, clean airy and well ventilated and maintain hygienic surroundings. Each wing of the hostels has all students recreation rooms.
1.6. Hostel Canteen & Café Day
The college Hostel canteen has a modern kitchen with the latest appliances to provide for Indian and Continental cuisine. The interior is tastefully crafted to provide the much needed relief and soothing environment. The college also has a “cafe day” which provides Cafe, Tea and snacks.
In Don Bosco’s system of education, sports and games are important factors, since they promote a sound physical development, relief from the tension of work, and help effectively in the formation of character. Hence all the students are expected to take an active part in the games and sports conducted by the Institute. Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the winners.
1.8. Medical Facilities
Medical facility is available to all the students, staff and faculty within the campus, SIGA has a tie-up with a local hospital (which is only 3 to 5 kms away from the campus) for both OPD and hospitalization facilities . In case of emergency ambulance is used to transfer the sick students to the hospital, The college also has Doctor-on-call system and 24*7 availability of ambulance to handle emergencies.
1.9. Printing Machine
We have state of the art printing machineries to match the best in the printing industry and these Machines are used for training the students. The income generated out of this education venture is ploughed back into a fund that offers financial assistance to the poor students to complete their education. This is a great support and help to the poor students who are marginalized and often from the rural setting. Many other social and community activities are carried out for the benefit of the wider community with the same fund. Most of our programs for the local poor are in the areas of education, social, recreation and skill training.
With the above machinery at our disposal and expert technical personnel as the driving force, we are able to execute the jobs entrusted to us with absolute efficiency.
